How to Stop a Leaky Faucet in a Delta Single-Handle Kitchen Sink
Why Is Your Delta Single-Handle Faucet Leaking?
A leaky Delta faucet is often caused by worn-out seals, a damaged cartridge, or mineral buildup. Fortunately, you can fix it yourself with basic tools and a little know-how. Here’s how to stop the leak in your kitchen sink.
Tools You’ll Need
- Adjustable wrench
- Phillips screwdriver
- Replacement O-rings or cartridge (Delta-specific)
- Vinegar (for cleaning buildup)
Step 1: Turn Off the Water Supply
Locate the shut-off valves under the sink and turn them clockwise. Test the faucet to ensure no water flows.
Step 2: Remove the Handle
Use a screwdriver to remove the screw under the handle cap (usually hidden under a small cover). Pull the handle off gently.
Step 3: Replace the Cartridge or O-Rings
Unscrew the retaining nut with your wrench, then pull out the cartridge. Check the O-rings for wear—if they’re cracked, replace them. If the leak persists, swap the entire cartridge with a Delta-compatible one.
Step 4: Clean Mineral Buildup
Soak the parts in vinegar for 10 minutes to dissolve limescale, which can also cause leaks.
Step 5: Reassemble and Test
Put everything back together, turn on the water, and check for drips. No more leaky Delta faucet!
